Several parks located around Tyler have splash pads that are open to the public for kids to cool off on hot summer days and get out from behind screens.

East Texas is covered in lakes and has an abundance of water with fishing for bass and catfish. Lake Fork to the north of Tyler offers some of the best largemouth bass fishing around. Lake Tyler has recreational opportunities to rental stand up paddle boards. Tyler State Park offers gear rentals for fishing, kayaking, boating and more.

The best place to get out into nature is Tyler State Park which is highlighted by a 64 acre spring fed lake. The park features over 13 miles and is a great place to explore during the Spring and Fall.

For those looking to stay closer into the city Faulkner Park provides a beautiful way to explore while being right in the middle of South Tyler. The park offers a 5.6 miles loop trail just off of Broadway and Cumberland Road in South Tyler. The trail is also a popular area for mountain biking.

If you are just looking to get out for a walk, job or bike the City of Tyler has an ever expanding trail system through the city. The Rose Rudman and South Tyler trail system has miles of paths running along Mud Creek in Tyler. The recently completed Legacy Trail runs along Old Jacksonville highway from Fresh by Brookshire's down to Gresham. The trail is currently undergoing an expansion towards the Tyler Rose Garden.
